WE’RE HIRING: Parish Collective Conference Coordinator

The Inhabit Conference is Parish Collective’s flagship national gathering. For over 13 years, thousands of neighborhoodians have come together to share stories, build friendships, and spark imagination for joining God’s work in their own places.

Inhabit isn’t a typical church conference. It’s a grassroots, relational, neighborhood-rooted celebration of God’s renewing work. And this gathering is thriving! Many of the key pieces for 2026 are already in motion — contributors, venue, and a strong vision. At the same time, our small staff team is carrying a full load across Parish Collective. To ensure Inhabit continues to grow and serve people well, we’re looking for someone who can hold the details, keep the timeline moving, and help bring the gathering to life alongside our team.

You won’t be starting from scratch. You’ll be stepping into a strong foundation with a committed team and an event with deep roots.

The Role

We’re hiring a part-time Conference Coordinator to help guide Inhabit 2026 from planning through the final celebration. This person will hold the overall project management, logistical details, and on-the-ground coordination of the gathering. They’ll work closely with the Parish Collective staff team, contributors, and volunteers to ensure that Inhabit reflects the mission and ethos of Parish Collective while running smoothly from start to finish.

If you’re a natural organizer who loves details and deadlines, and you are passionate about neighborhood-rooted faith, this could be your sweet spot.

Coordinator Characteristics

Qualified candidates will demonstrate the characteristics that we encourage in church and neighborhood participants:

  • Collaborative: Engages across geographic, denominational, and ethnic lines and eager to participate in convening for our national conference

  • Rooted: Demonstrates a strong theology and practice of presence in a particular neighborhood for at least two years

  • Engaged: Shows passion for the body of Christ and the future of the Church, with hope for local expressions of the Church in the neighborhood

  • Mission-driven: Understands the importance of in-person convening in ways that inspire, equip and encourage local practitioners towards faithful presence in their place

  • Innovative and Adaptable: Openness to creativity and flexibility as needed, with consistent focus on vision and values.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experienced: You’ve got a track record in event production, conference planning, or large-scale project management. You know how to bring big gatherings to life.

  • Organizer at Heart: You thrive on checklists, calendars, and making sure all the moving parts line up.

  • Bridge-Builder: You communicate clearly and keep lots of different people aligned and moving in the same direction.

  • Calm in the Storm: You’re a confident decision-maker who doesn’t get rattled under pressure.

  • Tech-Savvy: You’re comfortable using project management and communication tools to keep things humming.

  • Neighborhoodian: You’re passionate about Parish Collective’s mission and committed to living out faith in your own place.

  • Bonus: You’ve attended Inhabit before and already get the unique, relational culture of the gathering.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Oversee event planning; design and implement a working timeline with the staff.

  • Logistics: Coordinate all logistical details (venues, housing, catering, AV, transportation, etc.). Work with the Director of Operations to manage the budget and vendor contracts.

  • Collaborator Care: Meet with a wide variety of collaborators — speakers, workshop facilitators, volunteers, host partners, storytellers — ensuring clarity and alignment.

  • Event Coordination: Assist in shaping the schedule, flow, and values of the 2026 event in collaboration with staff and leadership.

  • On-Site Leadership: Be the central point person during the conference week to ensure things run smoothly and the team can focus on people.

  • Mission Stewardship: Ensure the ethos of Parish Collective and the spirit of neighborhood-rootedness is reflected in every detail.

Time Commitment & Compensation:

  • October - December: ~5 hrs/week

  • January - February 2026: ~10 hrs/week

  • April 2026: ~20 hrs/week

  • Event week in Chicago [April 27 - May 3]: Full-time availability

Compensation: $30–$40/hour depending on experience (total seasonal contract $8,400–$12,000)
